The essential functions include:

  • Read the daily job orders and perform repair work as needed
  • Maintain and be accountable for the tools used
  • Organize and clean-up of work areas and proper storage of tools and equipment
  • Replace broken windows, fix holes in walls, and replace or repair doors and painting
  • Have a rudimentary knowledge of plumbing and be able to replace faucet washers, fix leaks, unclog drains and replace pipes
  • Make notes of any repairs or replacement needed and follow proper procedures for getting the work done
  • Basic mechanical and vehicle maintenance knowledge
  • Keep the Maintenance Supervisor informed of daily work activities and follow instructions
  • Work as a team member in improving service delivery
  • Other duties as required

Equipment and Computer Software Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, or other equipment as required
  • Able to use tools of the trade in performing repairs and replacement of broken or damaged items


  • Available to work in an on-call capacity as required


  • Regularly work indoors & outdoors in a variety of environments
  • Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens


  • High school diploma preferred but not required
  • Minimum 1 year previous experience in a maintenance capacity
  • Knowledge of safe & proper use of tools
  • Valid California drivers license, driving record and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to Hillsides' insurance carrier
