ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions include:
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including major donor cultivation, annual giving campaigns, corporate and foundation proposals, planned giving initiatives, special events, and other innovative approaches.
- Lead capital and endowment fundraising efforts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee public relations efforts and manage the responsibilities of the Director of Communication and Marketing, with a focus on strengthening and enhancing the brand.
- Continue to develop, support, and steward a dedicated guild of volunteers that commit their time to raising funds by directing the volunteer program and in-kind donation activities, supervising the Director of Community Resources to maximize community engagement.
- Partner closely with the Chief Executive Officer on all organizational activities, including open houses, special events, and other key functions.
- Participate in Board of Directors meetings and relevant committee sessions, providing strategic support in donor engagement and identification of potential contributors.
- Supervise grant writers and oversee and manage the development and writing of proposals, case statements, solicitation materials, and other fundraising collateral.
- Foster ongoing communication with former Board members to maintain strong relationships and leverage their support.
- Manage the income and expense budget for the advancement department, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with financial objectives.
- Supervise and mentor the Advancement Services team, driving performance and professional development.
- Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer, Board, and Chief Financial Officer.
- Perform other duties as required to support the mission and goals of the organization.
- Work with program chiefs and directors to remain aligned with program needs and to master an understanding of services provided and clients served
- Generate new donor pools by providing organization information and tours
- Lead, manage, and direct a comprehensive and strategic fund development plan to enhance the short- and long-term diversified funding base.
- Manage the development and cultivation of a strong Board of Directors, together with the CEO and the Board Governance Committee.
- Establish and oversee performance measures, monitor results, and help the CEO and Board of Directors evaluate the effectiveness of the organization's fund development program.
- Provide oversight of the design and maintenance of donor and prospect records, gift management systems, and informational reports.
- Create and oversee a strategic approach to donor prospect research.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATES
- At least 7 years previous related experience, in a private nonprofit corporation
- CFRE certification preferred
- Valid California driver's license, driving record, and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to Hillsides' insurance carrier
