On-Call Certified Nurse Assistant

Job Type: On-Call Opportunity (morning, evening, or overnight shifts available)

Salary Range: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour (based on experience)

Overnight Shift Differential of $1.00 per hour working from 10pm to 9am

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The essential functions include:

    Personal Hygiene Assistance

    • Bathing, grooming, oral care
    • Hair care, skin care, shaving (as appropriate)
    • Toileting and incontinence care

    Mobility Support

    • Transferring from bed to chair/wheelchair
    • Assistance with walking, standing, or repositioning
    • Use of mobility aids (gait belts, walkers, lifts, etc.)

    Feeding & Nutrition

    • Assistance with meals: feeding if needed, cutting food, monitoring intake
    • Supporting feeding tube care (if applicable, under LVN supervision)
    • Monitoring for swallowing issues or choking risks

    Dressing and Clothing Management

    • Assistance with selecting weather- and event-appropriate clothing
    • Dressing and undressing with adaptive techniques as needed

    Continence Care

    • Support with toileting, use of briefs or catheter assistance (per training)
    • Tracking elimination and reporting abnormalities

    Support with Medical Equipment

    • Monitoring medical devices (e.g., oxygen, CPAP, suction machines)
    • Assisting with cleaning and maintenance (non-invasive equipment)

    Observation and Reporting

    • Daily charting of vital signs (if trained), appetite, mood, sleep, etc.
    • Immediate reporting of health concerns or behavioral changes

    Transportation Assistance

    • Accompanying youth to medical or therapy appointments
    • Support with getting in/out of vehicles safely

    Other Tasks

    • Collaborate with case managers, clinicians, and cottage staff to support individualized care plans and encourage NMD participation in services and activities.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of peer support activities, observations, and interactions, in alignment with agency protocols and confidentiality requirements.
    • Participate actively in team meetings, trainings, supervision, and reflective practice sessions to continue personal and professional growth.
    • Uphold program rules, confidentiality standards, and professional boundaries while maintaining an approachable and nonjudgmental presence.
    • Other duties as required

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATES

    • High School Diploma preferred
    • Completion of state-approved CNA training program
    • 6 months to 1 year experience working with youth with developmental or intellectual disabilities and/or complex medical needs (e.g., trach, G-tube, seizure protocols)
    • CPR/First Aid Certification
