Job Type: Full-time, Non-exempt Opportunity, Overnight Shift

Starting Salary Range: $18.04 to $20.00 per hour (based on experience)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions include:

  • Provide overnight supervision, safety monitoring, and support to Non-Minor Dependents (NMDs) residing in the cottage.
  • Support the nursing department with tasks related to clients ongoing medical care including providing support for daily living skills, information needed for medical charting and other relevant tasks.
  • Conduct routine and documented safety checks/rounds throughout the night to ensure the wellbeing and presence of all residents.
  • Monitor the physical security of the cottage, including locking doors, checking alarms, and ensuring entry points are secured.
  • Respond calmly and promptly to overnight incidents or behavioral concerns, utilizing trauma-informed interventions and de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Maintain a therapeutic, quiet, and structured overnight environment that supports rest and emotional regulation for residents.
  • Support the implementation of individualized routines and care plans during the overnight shift, as needed.
  • Assist NMDs who may require support during the night, including emotional check-ins, medication reminders, or other individualized needs.
  • Complete overnight cottage cleaning and tidying tasks to ensure a sanitary and welcoming environment for morning routines (e.g., wiping down surfaces, light organizing, laundry assistance).
  • Document all overnight observations, safety checks, incidents, and resident interactions in accordance with program policies and licensing requirements.
  • Prepare and organize materials or documentation needed for the following day's routines, appointments, or activities.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with day shift staff through written and verbal shift change reports to ensure continuity of care.
  • Ensure common areas, bathrooms, and resident bedrooms are clean, orderly, and ready for morning inspections or use.
  • Participate in required training sessions, staff meetings, and performance reviews relevant to overnight duties and client care.
  • Uphold all agency, licensing, and safety standards while on shift, including maintaining appropriate staff-to-client ratios.
  • Assist with emergency procedures during the overnight shift, including evacuations, medical situations, or crisis response.
  • Drive agency vehicles to respond to emergencies or transport clients if approved and necessary.
  • Coach and support NMDs in developing and maintaining daily living skills such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, money management, and time management.
  • Other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma required
  • AA (60 units) or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience in direct care and/or previous training in de-escalation, daily living supports, and/or neurodevelopmental strategies 
  • Valid California driver's license, driving record, and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to Hillsides' insurance carrier
