Join our dynamic team of social workers providing services to children/youth in foster care placement.  Our social workers are field based, which means only one duty day is required in the office per week.  This field-based model allows our social workers to focus on the needs of the clients and families and make meaningful impact in their lives.  The services you will be delivering as part of our team will be culturally relevant and trauma informed.

The essential functions include:

  • Consultation and coordination with assigned County Social Worker (CSW) from Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS);

  • Planning for treatment, reunification or permanent placement;

  • Provide Case Management services to children placed in foster homes certified by the Bienvenidos Foster Family Agency, developing written treatment plans for the child during the initial 30 days of placement, quarterly thereafter, and a final termination summary;

  • Monitor and ensure appropriate standards of care provided by Foster Parents to foster children placed by Bienvenidos;

  • Oversee and/or assist Foster Parents access, use and compliance to adequate medical care and support services for children placed in their home;

  • Consultation with Foster Parents and children with regard to behavioral and psychosocial adaptation;

  • Consult with supportive service providers, such as medical and psychiatric professionals, educational instructors, baby-sitters;

  • Maintain current, timely and complete documentation for file records, i.e., contact notes detailing visits to the foster care home, quarterly reports of the child's developmental growth and experience in foster care, medical and academic progress, and visitation and reunification outcomes with the natural family;

  • Accurate and timely documentation and reporting of suspected child abuse and neglect as per BFFA policy and state mandates;

  • Compliance with the Title 22 regulations and agency policies; and

  • Complete Home Studies for Resource Families

  • Might be required to take on-call after-hours shifts as outlined in ?Foster Care and Adoptions after Hours Response Policy?.

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor.

  • Ability to talk or hear in order to give and receive information and instructions

  • Ability to use computer keyboard up to 50% of the day
  • Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment
  • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

Equipment and Computer Software Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer literate (basic working knowledge of Microsoft WORD, Excel, and Outlook) and data/electronic records program currently in use

  • Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, computer printer and scanner, or other equipment as required




  • Regularly work indoors and in the community in a variety of environments
  • Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens


  • Masters degree in social work or marriage/family therapy
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Minimum 2 years of case management experience
  • Valid California driver's license, driving record and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to Hillsides' insurance carrier


Every employee has the opportunity and responsibility to participate in one or more activities each year that support the continuous quality improvement (CQI) of Hillsides' programs & services.  Activities might involve membership on a CQI committee or work group, service as a peer reviewer, data collection for CQI and evaluation purposes, completion of CQI questionnaires and surveys or participation in focus groups, or other activities as identified by CQI committees or work groups.

This position performs tasks that may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.  All Hillsides employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series.
