Arts and Activities Coordinator (130)

  • Direct the implementation of therapeutic, creative art and activity programs for the children in residence
  • Supervise, protect and care for the children assigned to group activities
  • Supervise Assistant Art Teacher, Recreation Assistants, and Tutor Coordinator and recommend strategies to those supervisees regarding implementation of their respective programs
  • Assist the children under his/her supervision in developing coping, problem-solving and social skills
  • Set limits and provide appropriate discipline for the children in their groups
  • Direct supervisees in providing age-appropriate art, tutoring, ILS, and other creative or physical activities for children in residence
  • Assist in the coordination of theme events and special activities
  • Assist in the coordination of outings, field trips and specially arranged projects
  • Set limits and maintain disciplinary standards consistent with Hillsides' policies
  • Assist in maintaining art and project equipment and the general cleanliness and good order of the art room and related facilities
  • Manage a budget for art supplies and activities
  • Maintain posted safety standards and keep equipment and supplies secure
  • Create a comprehensive weekly activities schedule for Main Campus
  • Collaborate with Hillsides Volunteer Services to assist in facilitation of volunteer events
  • Maintain weekly billing requirement
  • Complete documentation of all sessions in a timely manner
  • Other duties as required


  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience providing art and other creative activities to children in a residential or similar setting
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Valid California drivers license, driving record and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to Hillsides' insurance carrier

Activities might involve membership on a PQI committee or work group, service as a peer reviewer, data collection for PQI and evaluation purposes, completion of PQI questionnaires and surveys or participation in focus groups, or other activities as identified by PQI committees or work groups.
