WHAT YOU'LL DO

Communications and Marketing

  • Develop strategic communications and marketing plans, inclusive of public relations, media relations, and social media
  • Responsible for all aspects of communications and marketing; message development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of communications and marketing undertaken by Hillsides and its affiliate programs
  • Project management to include planning, organizing, securing, leading and controlling resources to achieve specific goals; e.g., communications, branding, marketing, reputation management, etc.
  • Oversee the integrated communications and marketing for all advancement campaigns and core programs
  • Oversee the brand ambassadors, working collaboratively with in-house graphic designer on dissemination of brand assets and messaging
  • Oversee the brand guidelines and ensure all communications is brand compliant
  • Oversee the MyHillsides, the agency's intranet, and Teams Communications and Marketing folder
  • Create business development marketing collateral, correspondence, strategies and outreach plan
  • Generate scripts and video production, as needed
  • Supervise and budget the communications, marketing, and production of internal and external print and electronic collateral, including all major publications, in support of all special events, both revenue generating and visibility related activities
  • Provide staff support for board of directors' committees, including ad hoc committees as assigned
  • Supervise, produce and maintain four websites and related electronic communications
  • Collaborate with program staff and consultants in implementing necessary integrated communications and marketing campaigns

Public and Media Relations

  • Conduct media trainings for board, staff, volunteers, and clients
  • Conduct crisis communications training annually to senior leadership team
  • Write talking points for crisis communications activities
  • Serve as a team leader for any crisis communications activities and serve as spokesperson as needed
  • Serve as the media liaison for crisis communications
  • Oversee Communications and Marketing Associate on integrating media relations efforts into communications and marketing campaigns
  • Conduct tours, as needed

Social Media

  • Oversee Communications and Marketing Associate on integrating marketing efforts into all social media campaigns
  • Integrate search engine optimization and search engine marketing

Public Affairs

  • Collaborate in the development and delivery of a comprehensive advocacy plan
  • Write blog entries for Chief Executive Officer, as needed
  • Generate correspondence to elected officials and community leaders
  • Serve as liaison to elected officials for community relations, as needed

Physical Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to talk or hear in order to give and receive information and instructions

  • Ability to use computer keyboard up to 70% of the day
  • Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Equipment and Computer Software Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer literate (advanced working knowledge of Microsoft WORD, Excel, and Outlook), Creative Suite or other desktop publishing software, and internet proficiency
  • Familiar with HTML and CMS
  • Able to use office equipment as required

ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to work evenings and weekends

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly work indoors or outdoors in a variety of environments
  • Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens
WHAT YOU'LL BRING

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATES

  • BA/BS degree required, graduate degree in related field preferred.
  • At least 5-7 year of management level experience in the communications field
  • Experience in working closely and collaboratively with volunteers, media representatives, and legislators
  • An understanding of the key areas of Hillsides' fund raising programs
  • Valid California drivers license, driving record and personal vehicle insurance acceptable to Hillsides' insurance carrier
